The effects of lesions of auditory cortex on discrimination of sound localization in dog.

چکیده
The studies by Neff on cats (Neff et al. 1950, 1956) have demostrated that bilateral ablations of the temporal cortex produce dramatic impairments of auditory cue localization. I t was considered useful to test his results by a completely different method, namely by utilizing go-no-go differentiation to two auditory stimuli, sounding from different places in standard conditioned reflex experiments.

Selective deficits in human audition: evidence from lesion studies
The human auditory cortex is the gateway to the most powerful and complex communication systems and yet relatively little is known about its functional organization as compared to the visual system. Several lines of evidence, predominantly from recent studies, indicate that sound recognition and sound localization are processed in two at least partially independent networks. Evidence from human...

A B S T R A C T Introduction:We investigated differential role of cortical and subcortical regions in verbal and non-verbal sound processing in ten patients who were native speakers of Persian with unilateral cortical and/or unilateral and bilateral subcortical lesions and 40 normal speakers as control subjects. Methods: The verbal tasks included monosyllabic, disyllabic dichotic and diotic tas...
متن کاملEffect of bilateral auditory cortex lesions on sound localization in Japanese macaques.
1. The ability of four Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) to localize sound was determined after bilateral ablation of auditory cortex. The animals were given two tests: a "midline" test in which they had to discriminate noise bursts presented from a loudspeaker located to the left from identical noise bursts presented from a loudspeaker located to the right of midline, and a "hemifield" test i...
متن کاملسایکوآکوستیک و درک گفتار در افراد مبتلا به نوروپاتی شنوایی و افراد طبیعی
Background: The main result of hearing impairment is reduction of speech perception. Patient with auditory neuropathy can hear but they can not understand. Their difficulties have been traced to timing related deficits, revealing the importance of the neural encoding of timing cues for understanding speech. Objective: In the present study psychoacoustic perception (minimal noticeable differen...
